SUNDAYS

Welcome to Sunday Mornings at LACPC!

Worship

Welcome to worship! This is a special time we spend with God. You belong to God’s family and we are glad that you have come to worship God with us. As you enter the sanctuary an usher will hand you a bulletin with activities that match the scripture readings you might hear. You will also see a basket with special worship bags in it. Each bag has a paper explaining the different parts of the worship service. You will also find bookmarks to mark the Bible verses and hymns. In the pews you will find a special book called A Children’s Guide to Worship. The church mice on every page of this book will help you understand the plan for worship. Look in the bulletin and see if you see some of the same mice. Can you tell what they are doing? Children age four and older participate in the beginning of the worship service with their parents. They are invited to attend Sunday school after the children’s message.

School Year Sunday School:

On Sunday mornings we have a multi-age Sunday school class.  This summer we are learning about the adventures of Paul using a curriculum called Awesome Adventures: Paul’s Amazing Quest.  This summer we will join Anna and Jake, characters in our weekly comic strip, as they follow the apostle Paul on his amazing quest-from his conversion on the road to Damascus, as he encounters a magician, sparks a riot in Ephesus, and survives a shipwreck in Malta. Packed with kid-friendly lessons, take-home comics, and activities, this broadly graded summer curriculum encourages children to explore the stories of Paul.

In the fall of 2023 we will begin using Godly Play.  Godly Play is the result of a lifetime of research and practice by theologian, author and educator, Rev. Dr. Jerome Berryman, the Godly Play® method is a curriculum of spiritual practice exploring the mystery of God’s presence in our lives. The Godly Play curriculum engages what is most exciting about religious education: God inviting us into—and pursuing us in the midst of—Scripture and spiritual experience. Godly Play® practice teaches us to listen for God and to make authentic and creative responses to God’s call in our lives.  We are excited about this new journey and are working hard to get the room ready for the fall.  Contact Carol for more information or if you would like to be part of the Godly Play team.
